On July 16th and 17th, 2018, the musicians of THE INTERNAVA PROJECT, comprising four Europeans and eight Iranians, delivered two sold-out performances at Vahdat Hall. These concerts included an 80th Birthday tribute to Loris Tjeknavorian and a program titled “Night of Minimalists.”
The events were organized to support the charity ILYA (Working Children) and were sponsored by NIKAN Hospital. Thanks to the Iran Heritage Foundation, both concerts were filmed. Highlights from the performances, featuring music by Nyman, Reich, Shostakovich, and Tjeknavorian, are available in a preview music video. The full-length concert video from Vahdat Hall can be requested.
THE INTERNAVA PROJECT, under development since April 2017, is a unique artistic collaboration between exceptionally talented European and Iranian musicians and composers.
INTERNAVA concerts have been held in both London and Tehran. Notably, the young Iranian pianist Ashkan Layegh has been awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music, marking the first such honor since the Revolution.
Future plans for THE INTERNAVA PROJECT include a world tour featuring world-class soloists and the commissioning of new works. One such project is a symphonic piece titled ZAL AND THE PHOENIX, an adaptation of the 1000-year-old story from Ferdowsi’s epic, the SHAHNAMEH, aimed at children and family audiences and translated into eight languages.
